So how do we coach clients with injuries?
At MV/FIT, we train a broad spectrum of clients with a variety of muscular or orthopaedic joint issues ranging from knee replacements, muscular tears, to lower back issues and everything in between.
We found that a lot of clients were coming to us wanting to train but have previously been injured or have pre-existing issues that they wanted to strengthen.
So, after many years of development and refinement, we came up with a solution to train each client effectively, working around their injuries.
Step 1
We have a bespoke and through onboarding process where every client that walks through our doors completes a 1:1 Assessment. This is where we identify any pre-existing issues, highlight any areas to work and outline their starting points to begin training with us.
Step 2
We collaborate closely as a coaching team to ensure that each individual client is training both effectively and safely and is following their plan. During this step, we solidify their training and gradually progress them with their exercise progressions, guiding them through step by step. During this phase, we also focus on developing other areas away from their injury.
For example, someone with a knee injury will be doubling down on strengthening their upper body and core strength, whilst working around their knee issue.
Furthermore, we also exclusively train in small groups of up to 6 people, which allows us to closely monitor and progress each individual client. This allows us to modify anything in the session easily so that the client can continue to progress session to session.
Step 3
This is where we work with external professionals if required such as physiotherapists to gradually progress and modify their exercises as pain decreases and strength levels increase.
By following our 3-step system and progressing the client steadily over time, we are able to successfully train a range of different clients, working around their injuries to both maximise their training progress and allow their bodies to heal their injuries.
So there is no need to feel discouraged in the face of injury now, we are here to help you get back to your best self.
